I recently bought a Victorian house in San Francisco, and hired Chris for several remodeling projects that I wanted to get done before moving in. I was impressed immediately by several things -- his attention to detail, his focus on doing a quality job, and his responsiveness. I felt that Chris handled each project as if it was his own home he was remodeling. He offered good ideas and presented different options to ensure that I would be happy with the end product, which of course I was.
I had worked with other contractors in the past, but Chris stands out ahead of the pack. He is extremely capable, reliable, conscientious, and honest. Remodeling your home can be a stressful experience, but working with Chris gave me a sense of confidence that the job would be done right without any headaches. I will definitely call him for my next remodeling project. ~ Jeff C.
In my nearly 27 years as a top producing real estate agent, first in Washington, D.C. and now in San Francisco, I¹ve worked with more contractors than I can even remember. In a business rife with sub-par performers, Chris Wakeman is in a class by himself. He¹s my #1 go-to guy for quality bath and kitchen remodels, additions and new construction. I refer my friends and clients to Chris with enthusiasm; he¹s earned my deepest respect and highest recommendation again and again. ~ Peter G. / Zephyr Real Estate
I've dealt with a few contractors in the past and it seems that their bid is always underestimated by at least 30% by the time the job is complete. There are always unexpected things that they did not foresee, resulting in them tacking on more expenses just before the job is complete, them knowing that your hands are tied and will likely pay the extra money to complete the job. Chris Wakeman not only finished remodeling my personal training gym studio in the time he quoted (working late on a Sunday may I add so that I could train my clients the next morning), but he also billed me less than the original bid since it took him less hours than he thought. Honesty, time efficiency and quality are priceless when it comes to hiring a private contractor. I'm sure you'll be able to find someone who's willing to undercut Chris by a few hundred bucks, but if you want the job done right the first time, get this guy. You'll spend way less money in the long run. ~ Gary C
We bought a house that required complete gutting and rebuilding. We knew the horrors that could result from having the wrong contractor and when Chris Wakeman was recommended we figured we would plunge in.
Chris paid attention to every detail in the house. The subcontractors were all some of the best in their field and every single detail was addressed. The care and attention to detail is clearly noticeable in his goal to take as good a care as he would with his own home.
I would highly recommend Chris if you want to be sure that your remodel job comes out as perfect as you envision.
I never write recommendations but this was a major investment and it came out better than I even imagined.
